5 June 2007

Praia, Cape Verde, 5 June – A delegation of Russian state company, Rosenergoatom arrived Monday in Cape Verde to present a nuclear power project, the Pana news agency reported.

Russian technicians traveled to Cape Verde to present the project with the aim of “establishing direct contacts with the national authorities and also presenting the details of the technology being developed.”

With this initiative the Cape Verdean government plans to find out about the solutions available internationally in order to resolve the energy problem, an area in which the archipelago depends exclusively on imported oil derivatives.

The company said it was interested in presenting this technology in Cape Verde as it is “perfectly adapted” to the reality of the archipelago. (macauhub)
