Luanda, Angola, 13 June – The revenues achieved by hotels, restaurants and other similar units, travel and tourism agencies in Angola between 2004 and 2006 totaled almost US$7 billion, according to the statistics bulletin of the hotel and tourism sector issued Tuesday in Luanda.
According to the document, published at an event on the Hotel and Tourism Statistical System in Angola, which will end Friday, the greatest turnover was posted in 2005.
According to the director of the Office of Studies, Planning and Statistics of the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism (Minhotur), Rosa Cruz, the figures represent the development of the tourism sector over the last three years.
The event aims to boost the technical-professional capacities of the department of studies and the provincial directorates in the area of tourism statistics.
The meeting also plans to deal with setting up a new statistical database to represent the country’s hotel and tourism market.
At the four-day meeting, the participants will analyze themes such as “production and use of statistical information,” “Statistics and instruments for the economic analysis of tourism,” and “The statistics of internal tourism.” (macauhub)
