Luanda, Angola, 13 June – Angolan mobile telecommunications operator Unitel has signed an agreement with Sweden’s Ericsson for the supply and installation of 3G UMTS network equipment.
According to a statement issued in Luanda, the contract has a value of US$45 million.
In August 2006, Unitel, Angola’s biggest operator, signed a US$150-million contract with Ericsson for the supply and installation of GSM equipment and a number of back-up services.
At the end of March 2007, Unitel had 1.321 million subscribers. (macauhub)
