Sao Tome, Sao Tome and Principe, 20 June – The inflation rate in Sao Tome and Principe rose 1.1 percent in May, or 0.2 percentage points above the level for April, according to a statement issued Wednesday by the archipelago’s National Statistics Institute (INE).
The year on year variation reached 12.7 percent in May and accumulated inflation from the beginning of the year totaled 6.3 percent.
The inflation rate measured as the average variation over the last 12 months totaled 21.3 percent, according to INE.
In 2006, the inflation rate was 23.1 percent, with the greatest variations posted in April, March and February with rises of 5.1, 4.3 and 3.7 percent, respectively. (macauhub)
