Portugal’s Central de Cervejas eyes Brazilian markets

8 August 2007

Lisbon, Portugal, Aug 8 – Portuguese drinks company Central de Cervejas e Bebidas is considering the launch of its Formas Lusa mineral water brand in Brazil, the company’s executive chairman has said.

Alberto da Ponte said Tuesday that the company’s Brazilian venture had “more probability” than a similar project being studied for Turkey.

Central de Cervejas plans to invest 10 million euros on its Mealhada bottling plant from 2007 to 2008. This factory produces the Formas Luso brand, a water with added fiber marketed as an appetite controller and diet aid.

“We will have significant investments to boost production capacity,” said da Ponte.

Restructuring of the Mealhada plant will quadruple its annual production capacity to 500 million liters, added the executive. (macauhub)
