17 countries to be represented at upcoming Maputo International Fair

13 August 2007

Maputo, Mozambique, 13 Aug – Seventeen countries have confirmed their participation at this year’s Maputo International Fair (FACIM-2007), running from 27 Aug to 2 Sept, the event’s organizer has said.

Juvenal Mabote, commercial director of SOGEX, the company responsible for organizing the Maputo trade fair, said Friday that more countries could attend the event as enrolment was still open.

Countries and territories that have confirmed their attendance at the Maputo event, running under the banner: “FACIM- A Meeting Point for Business People”, are Portugal, Germany, South Africa’s Mpumalanga province, Brazil, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Taiwan, Macau, Vietnam, Malawi, Spain, Kenya, Canada, Angola, Tanzania, Ethiopia and Swaziland.

Of these countries, FACIM’s organizer gave a special mention to Angola and Tanzania, both returning to the Maputo event, and Ethiopia and Vietnam, making their debuts.

Mozambique presently has 120 companies confirmed as attending the event and this could exceed the 130 firms represented at the previous edition, said Mabote, adding that a tendency for late enrollments meant the presence of individual states and companies at the upcoming Maputo trade fair could be higher then predicted.

The optimism of the event’s organizer over attendance levels at the Maputo fair is reflected in the fact that Mozambique’s IPEX exports promotion agency normally has official representatives from all 11 Mozambican provinces at its stand in the show, including companies from these regions. (macauhub)
