Number of Chinese civil aviation passengers rises 16.7 percent in first half

Beijing, China, 21 Aug – The number of passengers transported by Chinese airlines rose 16.7 percent in the first half of the year to 86.7 million, the civil aviation regulator said in Beijing Monday.

According to the Chinese General Civil Aviation Administration the number of domestic passengers rose 16.2 percent to 78.8 million and international passengers rose 21.8 percent to 7.9 million.

Cargo transported by Chinese airlines increased 15.3 percent to 1.83 million tons with domestic cargo rising 11.3 percent to 1.32 million tons and international cargo totaling 508,000 tons, or 27.2 percent more.

At the end of June there were 1,054 civil airplanes registered in China, a rise of 56 units against the number at the beginning of the year. (macauhub)
