Macau, China, 22 Aug – The number of visitors that entered Macau between January and July reached 14.8 million, a year on year rise of 21.5 percent, the Macau Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC) said Tuesday.
The number of visitors from mainland China was 8 million, which was a rise of 19.3 percent, and those from Hong Kong and Taiwan increased 23.4 and 1.4 percent, respectively.
In July, 2.2 million visitors entered Macau, a year on year rise of 22.5 percent.
In March of this year, the director of the Macau Tourism Bureau, Costa Antunes said that he expected Macau to have between 24 and 25 million visitors this year.
In 2006 Macau welcomed 21.98 million visitors after 18.7 million entered the territory in 2005.(macauhub)
