Lubango, Angola, 28 Aug – The Moçâmedes railroad (CFM) is Tuesday due to take delivery, in the city of Lubango, in Angola’s Huíla province, of new equipment for use on the line, the company said in a statement Monday.
CFM’s press release, cited by Angolan news agency Angop, said that the equipment to be delivered by Indian company Rites included four new locomotives, 30 carriages, and workshop materials.
Acquisition of equipment from India, to improve and modernize CFM’s infrastructure, is outlined in the agreement established in 2005 between the Angolan and Indian governments for the supply of rolling stock.
During the ceremony to mark the delivery of the equipment, led by Transport Minister, André Luís Brandão, there will be a presentation of a summary report of the work underway and a visit to the railway line, whose refurbishment is underway and is the responsibility of a Chinese company. (macauhub)
