29 August 2007

Washington, United States, 29 Aug – The World Bank Tuesday in Washington approved a donation of US$6.2 million to Mozambique to support the increase of income of small-scale farmers in some districts of the region of the Zambezi Valley.

Granted as part of the Global Environmental Facility (GEF), this funding is an addition to the US$20 million donation from the International Development Association approved by the World Bank in June 2006.

The main objective of the GEF donation is to support initiatives that aim to limit soil degradation, provide a capacity to forecast vulnerability to climate changes and improve the capacity of the ecosystem to the climate changes in the Zambezi valley. (macauhub)
