Macau, China, 31 Aug – Macau’s balance of trade posted a deficit of 12.33 billion patacas between January and July, Macau’s Statistics and Census Service said Thursday in Macau.
The deficit was due to exports totaling 11.42 billion patacas, a fall of 7.5 percent as compared with the same period of 2006 and imports totaling 23.75 billion patacas, a rise of 15.6 percent.
In the first seven months of the year, Macau’s exports continued to be focused on two markets – the European Union and the United States – with 58.1 percent of the total and imports also from two markets – mainland China and Hong Kong – with 53 percent of the total.
In July, Macau exported goods totaling 1.88 billion patacas, or 5.7 percent less year on year, and imported goods totaling 3.69 billion patacas, and thus the balance of trade posted a deficit of 1.81 billion patacas. (macauhub)
