Maersk Oil Angola surveys for oil in two blocs off Angolan coast

Sumbe, Angola, 7 Sept – Oil company, Maersk Oil Angola plans, by the end of this year, to carry out a three-dimensional seismic of blocs 8 and 23 off the coast of Angola, with the aim of oil and gas exploration.

A team from Maersk Oil Angola and the Angolan Environment Ministry has carried out a public consultation to explain the impact of the investment in order to present the projects for bloc 8 and 23.

Speaking to Angolan news agency Angop, the geological supervisor of Maersk Oil Angola, André Costa, sad that the project included a seismic survey to produce an image of the geology beneath the sea bed in order to collect enough information on the type of rocks and ground.

He added that climate and meteorological parameters would be researched, as well as the physical oceanography, the coastal environment and use of amenities.

Blocs 8 and 23 extend out as far as the Quanza river delta to the north and to Lobito to the south. (macauhub)
