Chinese company to build bridge of river Cunene, Angola

Luanda, Angola, 14 Sept – Chinese company, Roads and Bridges Corporation is to build a bridge over the Cunene River in Angola, at a cost of US$30 million, according to Angolan news agency Angop.

The director of the Angola Roads Institute (INEA), Joaquim Sebastião said Wednesday that construction of the bridge would be carried out simultaneously with teh reconstruction of the Lubango/Santa Clara road.

The bridge, the original version of which was destroyed during Angola’s civil war, will be 880 meters long and 13 meters wide and have four lanes, As well as sidewalks for pedestrians.

The Roads and Bridges Corporation has 18 montsh in which to build the bridge.

The director of the building work, Sun Xiaojun, said that the main problem he faced was procuring materials on time, as they had to imported from South Africa or China and took around four months to arrive at the site. (macauhub)
