Norway grants aid to Mozambique for professional training

Maputo, Mozambique, 24 Sept – The Norwegian government is set to grant US$5 million (30 million Norwegian Kroner) to Mozambique to support the professional training program of the country’s Energy Ministry over the next five years.

According to Mozambican news agency AIM the agreement was signed Friday by the Mozambican minister of foreign affairs, Alcinda Abreu, and by the Norwegian ambassador to Mozambique, Thorbjorn Gaustadsaether.

Speaking at the ceremony, the ambassador said that the Norwegian government had defined the energy and environment sector as the two priorities for cooperation with poorer countries.

Gaustadsaether said that in order to ensure sustainable development of the energy sector it was necessary to “have a ministry that works.” macauhub)
