Pan-African group Lonrho invests in new airline in Angola

London, United Kingdom, 10 Oct – Angola is to have another airline, Fly 540 Angola, following an agreement established between the pan-African group Lonrho and Angola’s Gefi, Sociedade de Gestão e Participações Financeiras.

The creation of the company still requires the approval of a business plan to be presented soon and aims to replicate the success of Fly 540 operating in Kenya.

In its turn, Gefi, via its aviation subsidiary Planar, agreed to the joint venture with a 1,000 square meter hangar, 400 square meters of offices and a rented ticket office at the 4 de Fevereiro International Airport.

Planar also has a license for operating air services thatw ill be used by Fly 540 Angola.

The statement published by Lonrho added that the airline would likely start operating at the beginning of 2008, and in an initial stage would use a combination of regional turbo-propeller and jet aircraft to serve 10 airports in Angola. (macauhub)
