Exhibitors from 31 countries and regions present at Macau International Fair

Macau, China, 12 Oct – Exhibitors from 31 countries and regions, spread over 889 pavilions, will be present at the 12th Macau International Fair (MIF) held between October 18 and 21 at the Venetian Convention and Exposition Center in Macau, the event’s organizers said Thursday.

The Macau Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM), which organizes MIF, said that the number of pavilions had increased by 270 percent against the 2006 fair, while the number of countries represented had risen by 48 percent.

The fair will be attended by representatives of mainland China, Portugal, Brazil, Angola, Mozambique, Guinea Bissau, Cape Verde, East Timor, the United States, Canada, Australia, Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, the Netherlands, Poland, Spain, the United Kingdom, Chile, South Africa, Dubai, Egypt, India, Pakistan, Japan, and Thailand, as well as Hong Kong Macau and Taiwan.

“One of the characteristics of MIF will be to highlight the role of Macau as a “Service Platform for Economic and Trade Cooperation between China and the Portuguese-speaking Countries,” said a statement from IPIM adding that a “Portuguese-speaking Countries Pavilion” had been organized, which will be the venues for trade promotion bodies of the seven Portuguese-speaking nations.

For the first time the fair will also have a “European Union Pavilion.”

IPIM said that “this presence will contribute to boosting China and Macau’s relationship with the EU countries, namely in terms of economic and trade cooperation and investment, creating new business opportunities.”

The exhibition area for the provinces and municipal areas of mainland China will be the event’s largest with a total of 380 pavilions. (macauhub)
