Italy approves 5.2 million-euro donation to Mozambique’s Sofala province

Maputo, Mozambique, 12 Oct – The government of Italy has approved a donation of 5.2 million euros over three years to support the decentralization and economic development process of Mozambique’s Sofala province, Mozambican daily newspaper, Notícias reported Thursday.

According to Italian official Pietro di Carli, the funding will be applied in several activities over five of the province’s districts, including the city of Beira, via the Municipal Council.

The agreement for the concession of the funding was signed in October last year between the Italian government and the Mozambican State Administration Ministry.

The funds are intended to improve the social and economic conditions of the province’s population, particularly in the regions covered, namely by improving the quality of public administration services, reducing absolute poverty in order to sustainable economic and human development. (macauhub)
