European Commission contributes to Mozambique’s 2008 state budget

22 October 2007

Maputo, Mozambique, 22 Oct – The European Commission is to provide 43 million euros to support Mozambique’s state budget for 2008 under an accord signed Thursday.

The EC’s Maputo representative, Glauco Calzuola, said there will be a fixed aid package of 30 million euros and a variable sum of 16.5 million euros, dependent on results achieved by the Maputo government in 2006 in the sectors of health, education, and management of state finances.

Brussels’ budget support program, part of the partnership of 19 of Mozambique’s donors, is its third and was made possible by a bilateral cooperation accord signed last June for 2001-2007. (macauhub)
