Maputo, Mozambique, 1 Nov – The president of Angola, José Eduardo dos Santos said Wednesday in Maputo that Angola was prepared to provide Mozambique all of its experience and knowledge in the oil sector.
Oil was one of the nine areas covered by cooperation agreements between Angola and Mozambique signed as part of the two-day visit by dos Santos, which ended Wedesday.
The Mozambican government maintains it is confident of the existence of commercially viable oil reserves in the country, especially in the Rovuma basin (the river separating Mozambique from Tanzania) and the Zambezi river delta (central Mozambique).
During the Angolan president’s trip to Mozambique agreements were also signed in the areas of science and technology, higher education, energy, geology and mining, media, fishing, public works and corporate development.
At the end, dos Santos formally invited his Mozambican counterpart to make an official visit to Mozambique, the date of which has yet to be set. (macauhub)
