Sao Paulo, Brazil, 12 Nov – Representatives of the government of the Brazilian state of Sao Paulo and 25 companies are due to travel to Guangdong, Shenzhen, Macau and Hong Kong at the beginning of December on a business prospecting trip, the Sao Paulo Commercial Association told macauhub Friday.
In order to find out more about the opportunities offered by the region of the Pearl River Delta, the delegation, which is due to arrive in China on December 3, will take part in seminars, meeting, business meetings with local businesspeople and technical, sector and cultural visits, and return to Brazil on December 15.
Business owners from the food, metals, chemicals, children’s clothing, medical and orthodontic equipment and construction sector have confirmed their presence on the trip and professionals from the trading and services, as well as teh product identification areas will also take part.
The trip is being organized by the Sao Paulo Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Municipal Secretariat for International Relations for Sao Paulo and has the support of the Ministry for Development, Industry and Foreign Trade.
The cultural proximity of Macau to Brazil makes the Chinese territory a gateway to the Chinese market, according to the Sao Paulo Chamber of Commerce.
The Pearl River Delta region is China’s main industrial center and its trade with the State of Sao Paulo has seen significant growth in recent times.
Figures issued by the mission’s organizers showed that imports of Chinese products by Sao Paulo – the richest state in Brazil – have risen 412 percent since 2001.
From 2005 to 2007, Sao Paulo’s imports from China, Hong Kong and Macau rose most amongst products such as machinery, electrical equipment, nuclear reactors, boilers and parts for boilers, organic chemicals, optical equipment, space vehicles and their launch vehicles and part for airplanes and helicopters.
