Guinea Bissau: Brazil to pardon bilateral debt

Bissau, Guinea Bissau, 16 Nov – Brazil plans to pardon the bilateral debt owed to it by Guinea Bissau, totalling US$34 million, according to a statement from the Guinean presidency published Thursday in Bissau.

According to the statement, the decision was announced by Brazilian president Lula da Silva during a meeting with his Guinean counterpart, Nino Vieira, as part of a three-day official visit by the Guinean president to Brazil.

As part of bilateral cooperation, the two heads of state agreed to strengthen relations in the areas of defense, public administration, agriculture, health and support for the electoral and parliamentary process.

During his official visit o Brazil, Vieira signed several agreements in the areas of health, agriculture and trade. (macauhub)
