Maputo, Mozambique, 30 March – The Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Mozambique was formally set up Wednesday in Maputo, Chinese state news agency Nova China reported citing embassy staff in the Mozambican capital.
The Chinese ambassador to Mozambique, Tian Guanfeng, who attended the ceremony to officially open the chamber, said he hoped it would serve to supply Chinese businesspeople with information on the policies and regulation in force in Mozambique.
The ambassador said that the Chinese government had adopted a number of measures to encourage Chinese investment in Mozambique and concluded by saying that he hoped the new chamber would be a link between Chinese and Mozambican businesspeople.
Bilateral trade between the two countries in 2006 totaled US$210 million, against US$165 million in 2005 and US$119 a year before. (macauhub)
