Maputo, Mozambique, 30 Nov – The Italian government plans to grant a 60 million-euro loan to Mozambique to build sanitation infrastructures in the city of Maputo and to build the Nhacangara dam, Mozambican daily newspaper, Notícias reported.
The paper said that the governments of Mozambique and Italy would sign a credit agreement in Maputo Monday to make these projects possible.
Construction of the Nhancagara dam, in the Pungue River basin, will include a 190 million cubic meter reservoir to supply drinking water to the city of Beira, and is estimated to cost 39.1 million euros.
The rainwater drainage system in Maputo, stretching over 20 kilometers, has been estimated to cost 16.9 million euros and the remaining 4 million euros will be used for project design, supervision, geological research and an environmental impact study. (macauhub)
