Macau: Macau airport company wants to take Portuguese technicians to China in 2008

Macau, China, 7 Dec – Macau airport company, CAM, wants to organize in 2008 a visit by directors, airport management and air traffic control technicians and the Portuguese civil aviation authority to China to identify methods of bilateral cooperation.

According to António Rato, who is responsible for the international relations of Comapanhia do Aeroporto Internacional de Macau, the aim of the visit is to “get to know Chinese organization better and identify ares in which cooperation can be boosted, as over the last few years training sessions have been carried out both at NAV and ANA.”

CAM has serves in the civil aviation sector as a bridge between China and the Portuguese-speaking countries and since Thursday has hosted the second conference between airports in China and those in Portuguese-speaking countries.

Rato noted that CAM’s role as a platform was also advantageous for Macau in that all training sessions organized in Portugal also included staff from Macau.

In relation to the conference, which is attended by around 100 technicians and directors from airport companies in China and the Portuguese-speaking countries, Rato said that it was an opportunity for people to meet each other and discuss common problems.

Amongst the participants in the seminar, in which Macau is once again the platform for understanding and cooperation between China and the Portuguese-speaking countries, are officials responsible for airport infrastructures, companies that mange and own airports, civil aviation authorities and representatives of air carriers.
