Maputo, Mozambique, 19 Dec – Seventy nine Mozambican companies have been granted the “Made in Mozambique” quality mark since the Ministry of Trade and Industry launched its “Produce, consume and export Mozambican” campaign in 2005.
Friday, that number will increase to 82 companies when a further three companies from Nampula province are certified to use the “Made in Mozambique” mark.
On Monday, 20 companies from Maputo and other cities received the mark and its respective certificate, including companies from the clothing, insurance, mineral water, furniture, travel agency and cable television sectors.
At the ceremony, the minister for Industry and Trade, António Fernando said that the results of the campaign were becoming visible, as Mozambican products are competing with foreign products sold in the Mozambican market.
On the occasion, the minister noted that one of the campaign’s aims was to revive Mozambique’s industries and increase domestic consumption of its own products, which required improving their quality. (macauhub)
