Macau: Gross gaming revenues rise 45.7 pct to US$10.48 billion in 2007

Macau, China, 21 Jan – Gaming and gambling activities in Macau posted gross revenues of 83.847 billion patacas (US$10.48 billion) in 2007, a rise of 45.76 percent against the figures for 2006, the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (GICB) said in Macau Monday.

Of the total gross revenue, gambling contributed 99 percent or 83.022 billion patacas and the remainder was generated by greyhound and horse racing, Chinese and instant lotteries and football and basketball bets.

Baccarat and VIP baccarat together generated turnover of 71.973 billion patacas, or 86 percent of total revenue.

At the end of 2007 there were 28 casinos in Macau, 18 of which were owned by Sociedade de Jogos de Macau, Galaxy Casinos owned five and Venetian Macau, Wynn Resorts (Macau), Meco PB Jogos (Macau) and MGM Grand Paradise owned one casino each. (macauhub)
