Pemba, Mozambique, 21 Jan – An official from the National Oil Instuitute of Mozambique told Rádio Moçambique in Pemba that there were string indications of the existence of oil and gas in the Rovuma basin, in Cabo Delgado province.

Ramiro Naguilaze told the radio station that several surveys underway showed the presence of hydrocarbons, but that their quantities were as yet unknown.

Naguilaze was speaking after a meeting to present the environmental management plan for oil company Andarko, which this month will begin seismic surveys in the sea, which will continue until June.

The National Oil Institute is awaiting the final results of the seismic surveys carried out in the middle of last year by another company operating in the Rovuma basin. (macauhub)
