Cape Verde: Portuguese funding over next 4 years totals 70 million euros

Praia, Cape Verde, 22 Jan – Portuguese cooperation with cape Verde for the 2008-2011 period will total 70 million euros, mainly to be used for budgetary aid, the archipelago’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Victor Borges said Monday in Praia.

The Cape Verdean Minister was speaking after a meeting with the Portuguese secretary of state for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, João Cravinho, who Monday began a week-long visit to Cape Verde.

The Indicative Cooperation Program (PIC) for the next four years will be signed Wednesday, one of the highlights of Cravinho’s visit, which this week will explore all the possibilities of cooperation,” with Cape Verde, Cravinho told journalists.

Borges noted the role of the Portuguese presidency of the European Union, in the second half of 2007, which supported the creation of a special partnership between Cape Verde and Europe, which was approved on 19 November. (macauhub)
