Beijing, China, 28 Jan – Trade between mainland China and Macau totaled US$2.92 billion in 2007, or 19.8 percent more than in 2006, according to statistics published in Beijing Friday by the Chinese Trade Ministry.
China’s exports to Macau totaled US$2.64 billion, whilst sales from Macau to China totaled US$280 million, with respective rises of 21 percent and 9.7 percent on 2006, according to figures published Friday by official news agency New China.
Macau’s direct investment in China in 2007 fell 6 percent to US$640 million, applied to a total of 656 projects, or 1.4 percent fewer than in 2006, according to the same figures.
Since the start of direct trade relations between Macau and China in 1978, mainland China has attracted a total of US$7.65 billion in investment from Macau, for a total of 11,553 projects.
According to statistics from the Chinese Trade Ministry, Macau’s direct investment accounts for 1 percent of all foreign direct investment in China. (macauhub)
