Macau, China, 6 Feb – Tourism officials in Zhongshan, Zhuhai and Macau decided at a meeting held on 29 January, to carry out joint tourism promotion in South Korea and to increase promotion of the region of the Pearl River Delta as a single destination.
According to the Macau Government Tourist Office, during the meeting the officials from the three neighboring cities defined the guidelines for cooperation in 2008, and agreed to speed up joint promotional activities.
As well as joint promotion in South Korea, Macau, Zhuhai and Zhongshan, will also promote their region to the Chinese interior as a single destination.
The three cities signed and put in place in 2006 the “Memorandum of Understanding for Tourism Cooperation between Zhongshan, Zhuhai and Macau.”
In 2007, Macau received 27 million visitors, a rise of 22.8 percent year on year, with the number of visitors from mainland China totalling 14.87 million, or a rise of 24.1 percent. (macauhub)
