Angola: Chinese company builds new water supply system in Dondo

Dundo, Angola, 12 Feb – Chinese company China National Electronics Import & Export has begun the project for reconstruction and extension of the system of collection and supply of water to the city of Dondo, in the Angolan province of Lunda Norte.

According to Angolan news agency Angop, work on the project began in January with measurement and technical surveying work on the area.

The project consists of revising and replacing the pipes of the distribution network as well as building new reservoirs, an activity which includes the area where the new city of Dundo is to be built.

After approval of the project in a meeting of the Council of Ministers in December 2007, the minister for Energy and Water, Botelho de Vasconcelos said that the project for the capital of Lunda Norte province would cost US$16 million.

The electricity distribution network in Dundo is being rebuilt and extended by Chinese company China Machine-Building International.

This project is scheduled over two years and will be financed by the credit line granted by China via the Eximbank. (macauhub)
