Benguela, Angola, 13 Feb – The Angolan government plans to attract national and international investors to recover the pulp and paper factory of Companhia de Celulose e Papel de Angola (CCPA), the deputy minister of Agriculture, André de Jesus Mota said at the weekend in Ganda.
The deputy minister, who is responsible for Forestry Resources at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, made the statement on a visit to the Ganda municipality in Benguela province, where he inspected the current state of the pulp and paper factory, as well as the forestry area of Alto Catumbela, 18 kilometers from Ganda.
Mota said he believed that it was possible to attract investment from interested businesspeople to recover the factory.
“It is now a matter of studying the mechanisms for attracting these investors to reactivate this factory,” Mota said.
Companhia de Celulose e Papel de Angola currently survives on the exploration of eucalyptus, pine and cedar wood for use in the furniture industry. (macauhub)
