Portugal: Economy grows by 1.9 percent in 2007

Lisbon, Portugal, 15 Feb – The Portuguese economy grew 1.9 percent last year, its biggest rate of growth since 2001, according to figures published Thursday in Lisbon by the National Statistics Institute (INE).

INE said that growth of the Portuguese economy totaled 2 percent in the fourth quarter of last year, against the same period of 2006.

This growth is a 0.3 percentage point increase against the 1.7 percent year on year growth in the third quarter of 2007.

In annual terms the 1.9 percent growth rate represented a rise of 0.6 percentage points against that posted in 2006. (macauhub)
