Brazil: Chinese business-owners interested in investing in Mato Grosso do Sul

Campo Grande, Brazil, 13 March – A mission of Chinese businesspeople is currently in the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso do Sul with the aim of finding potential investment opportunities.

The visit by the Chinese delegation follows a visit by businesspeople from Mato Grosso to China in October 2007 during which they visited the Guangzhou Fair.

The Chinese businesspeople met Wednesday with Sérgio Marcolino Longen, the president of Fiems (Federation of Industries of Mato Grosso do Sul) to find out more about customs charges, tax breaks and funding available from the Bank of Brazil.

“Brazil is in a good place at the moment and Mato Grosso do Sul specifically offers attractive conditions to businesspeople who want to implement projects here,” Marcolino Longen said.

Marcolino Longen also told the Chinese businesspeople that Mato Grosso do Sul offered advantages to future projects.

On 14 March the businesspeople visited the Mato Grosso do Sul ceramics center in the north of the state.

The state of Mato Grosso do Sul, on of 27 in Brazil, is located in the Central-West region, and has an area of 358,159 square kilometres (bigger than Germany), borders Paraguay and Bolivia and has a population of 2.2 million. (macauhub)
