Mozambique: South African group starts construction of luxury tourist resort

Maputo, Mozambique, 24 March – South African company Beekman Brothers said Friday that work had begun on building the first luxury apartments at its “San Martinho Beach Club,” in the tourist resort of Bilene in Southern Mozambique.

In a statement the group said that the resort would have five “villages” with a total of 340 houses and luxury apartments, and the beach club would have a private marina with direct access to the Bilene lagoon and the Indian Ocean.

the houses and apartments are to be sold at an initial price of US$40,000 for a renewable lease period of 50 years and interested parties can also buy the properties outright for a minimum of US$299,000.

Beekman Brothers said it was putting into practice a social program for all the inhabitants of Bilene, which included the construction of a waste water treatment plant, modernisation of the water supply system and the launch of a mosquito control program. (macauhub)
