Luanda, Angola, 1 April – In 2007 Angola received 194,000 tourists, a rise of 60 percent on 2006, the spokesperson for Angola’s Ministry for Tourism and Hotels, Rosa Cruz said in Luanda.
Cruz added that the international events organised in Angola in 2007 had led to more visitors than in the previous year, when there were few international events held.
In 2007 two new hotels were opened in Angola and there are currently 15 hotel projects that have been approved by the government and which are expected to be in operation by 2010.
Of the 15 projects, eight are currently under construction, one is being refurbished and the remainder are awaiting approval from the provincial authorities. (macauhub)
