Angola: Hotel and Tourism Ministry want to put sector “in order”

Luanda, Angola, 1 April – The Angolan Ministry of Hotel and Tourism plans to put an end to the disorder of the sector in terms of illegal building of hotel units, the Hotels and Tourism Minister, Eduardo Chingunji said Friday in Luanda.

Cited by Angolan newspaper Jornal de Angola, the minister noted that all investors, whether public, private or foreign, that wanted to make investments in the hotel sector would have to present their plans to the Ministry.

Chingunji, who was speaking at the closing session of the 3rd Consultation Council of Hotels and Tourism Ministry, warned that non-fulfilment would lead to penalties.

This year the ministry plans to draw up a national tourism plan and carry out an inventory of Angolan property, as well as to assess the potential of each tourist area.

Entitled, “Tourism, a factor for fighting poverty and focusing on sustainable development,” the event debated the creation of legal diplomas that fit in with the country’s reality and that reach various area of tourist activities, such as travel agencies. (macauhub)
