Angola: Endiama plans partnership with Indian group Tata

Luanda, Angola, 2 April – Angolan state diamond company Empresa de Diamantes de Angola (Endiama) has requested support from the Indian government to set up a partnership with Indian group Tata to manufacture commercial vehicles and helicopters, accoridng to Indian news agency, Press Trust of India (PTI).

In a report with a Luanda dateline, PTI said that the issue was discussed Tuesday during a meeting between the chairman of Endiama, Manuel Arnaldo de Sousa Calado, and Indian Minister for Trade, Jairam Ramesh.

Speaking to PTI, the Indian minister said that Endiama wanted the Indian government to make efforts to establish the partnership with the Tata group and also said that the Angolan company would send a mission to Mumbai soon in order to assess the feasibility of opening up an office in India.

The office, which is likely to be in operation this year, will sell Angolan diamonds directly to Indian buyers, probably in 2009, the minister said. (macauhub)
