Macau, China, 10 April – The Macau Special Administrative Region is to host next year’s AGM of the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), officials said Thursday.
Macau’s Directorate of Tourism Services (DST) said the decision was taken at the 57th AGM of PATA, which ended this week in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Next year’s AGM will be in Macau in April.
The Colombo meeting centered on problems posed by climate change, an issue to be raised at PATA CEO Challenge 2008 in Bangkok later this month.
Macau received 27 million tourists in 2007, up 22.7 percent in an annual comparison.
Founded in 1951, PATA promotes tourism in the Asia-Pacific region. The organization comprises representatives from 100 state bodies, as well as airlines, shipping operators and hundreds of travel agents. (macauhub)
