Angola: Chinese company to expand electricty grid in Luanda

Luanda, Angola, 14 April – The Angolan government hás chosen China National Machinery & Equipment Import and Export Corporation to rehabilitate and expand the third phase of the Luanda electricity grid; a project worth some US$28.5 million, officials said.

The contract, published in Angola’s Diário da República said that the Chinese company would refurbish the medium and low voltage grids of the central-southern area of Luanda, including the neighbourhoods of Mártires de Kifangongo, Cassenda, Cassequel and Calemba.

The document requires the Chinese company to sub-contract Angolan companies to a total value of 30 percent of the approved contracts.

The Angolan government also contracted, Gabinete de Aproveitamento do Médio Kwanza (GAMEK) to supervise the work. (macauhub)
