Beijing, China, 24 April – Huawei Technologies, the Chinese producer of telecommunications equipment, plans to set up a commercial network in Brazil for Claro, the Brazilian subsidiary of Mexican group América Móvil, the company said in Beijing Wednesday.
The network that Huawei is to build will provide wireless broadband to Claro’s residential customers at a lower cost and teh technology used will be HSDPA (High-Speed Downlink Packet Access).
The Chinese company did not reveal any financial information about the contract.
In December, the Brazilian authorities granted third generation (3G) mobile telephony licenses and US$2.2 billion is expected to be invested by the telecommunications companies. (macauhub)
