Mozambique: India’s Karnataka state may invest in Mozambique IT sector

Mumbai, India, 5 May – Mozambique plans to attract investments to it Information Technology sector and is in negotiations with the government of the Indian state of Karnataka, the Mozambique’s ambassador to India said in Mumbai.

On the sidelines of a meeting to promote investments in Mozambique, Carlos Agostinho do Rosário said he hoped to attract US$25 million in Indian investment, in an initial phase.

The city of Bangalore, the capital of Karnataka state, is the Indian centre for Information Technology.

Mozambique also hopes top attract Indian investment of US$20 million for projects related to water supply networks and is in talks with Indian companies for that purpose.

“For our water supply network projects, we are in talks with the Kirloskar group and some other companies in Kerala and Chennai,” the ambassador said.

In 2007 Indian companies invested around US$40 million in Mozambique in several sectors. (macauhub)
