Praia, Cape Verde, 9 May – The Netherlands plans to support Cape Verde’s state budget with 9 million euros, for the Education and Professional Training sector to be used by 2011.
The agreement, which is due to be signed Friday in Praia, outlines payment of 1 million euros this year, accordingt o a statement from the Cape Verde foreign affairs ministry, issued Thursday.
The aim of the funding, the Cape Verdean government said, is to “restructure and strengthen” the Education and Professional Training sector by providing “quality professional technical training that is adjusted to the real needs of the labour market.”
The cash will make it possible to set up a unit to train trainers and technical and professional training managers, organise a statistical information system on employment and professional training and promote continuous training, with the involvement of companies.
Next Monday the MCA (Millennium Challenge Account) is due to sign na agreement with Caixa Económica de Cabo Verde via which it has granted credit of 292,000 euros to support farmers on the islands of S. Nicolau, Santo Antão and Fogo in acquiring drip-feed irrigation equipment and developing agricultural businesses. (macauhub)
