Macau: Zhongshan, Zhuhai and Macau move ahead with joint tourism promotion in South Korea

Soeul, South Korea, 9 June – The Macau tourism authorities, together with the cities of Zhongshan and Zhuhai, in mainland China, have since Thursday in Seoul, South Korea been carrying out promotion of the region alongside the Korea World Travel Fair (KOFTA).

The municipality of Zhuhai borders Macau and Zhongshan is located in the interior of China a few kilometres from Macau.

The initiative taken by Macau in its role as president of the “Regional Cooperation of the Tourism Departments of Zhongshan, Zhuhai and Macau” includes promotion of the region as a single tourist destination and promoting contacts with South Korean tour operators.

Macau is present at KOFTA with the fair’s biggest pavilion which also includes tourism representatives from Zhongshan and Zhuhai.

More than 112,000 South Korean tourists visited Macau in the first four months of the year, which was a year on year increase of 57.57% against the same period of 2007.

South Korea is Macau’s fifth biggest tourist market.
