Praia, Cape Verde, 25 June – Italy plans to co-fund a project to build a road on the Cape Verdean island of Santo Antão, by providing 3.05 million euros under the terms of an agreement signed with the government of Cape Verde.
The decision from Italy is a response to a request from the Cape Verdean government to conclude the work on the road, which is also funded by the government of Luxembourg and the European Commission.
The funding provided by the Italian government will be used to execute the final phase of construction of the road, which is considered strategic for the development of the entire island of Santo Antão.
The Italian government is a partner of Cape Verde in various areas such as agriculture, health and education, contributing to the fight against social exclusion and reduction of poverty since the country’s independence from Portugal. (macauhub)
