Angola: Angola’s stock exchange starts test phase

3 July 2008

Luanda, Angola, 3 July – The Luanda Stock Exchange is already operating experimentally with virtual companies created within its system, the chairman of the Capital Markets Commission (CMC), António de Cruz Lima said in Luanda.

According to Lima, the team is awaiting the launch (the date of which he did not provide) to replace the virtual companies with real ones.

Lima, who was speaking on the sidelines of a capital markets conference said that June had served for the CMC to conclude the process of integrating new partners, such as some banks that were not involved in the stock exchange.

Since the stock exchange was created over two years ago, the institution has been training staff and helping to set up intermediaries that will operate and work in this bourse.

In this period, a team of foreign programmers travelled to Angola to provide the software system and worked with Angolan professionals to prepare them to provide support for the system when the stock exchange is in operation. (macauhub)
