Angola: Future Luanda International Fair venue will be most modern in Africa

Luanda, Angola, 17 July – The future venue of the Luanda International Fair (FILDA) may be the most modern in Africa, according to the chairman of the board for the fair, Matos Cardoso, Angolan newspaper Jornal de Angola reported.

The new venue will occupy an area of 300 hectares, or tem times the size of the current premises.

The development, which will be built in the Viana Industrial Hub, will have two hotels, with 200 rooms, office buildings, leisure areas and 10 pavilions covering an area of 10,000 square metres each.

Matos Cardoso said that a feasibility study for the FIl venue was underway in order that the project can be launched at a later date.

The 2008 edition of FILDA, Angola’s biggest economic fair, opened Tuesday with the participation of 550 companies, 200 of which are Angolan and the remaining 350 from 26 different countries.

The fair, which is due to end on 20 July, covers an area of 26,000 square metres, as compared with 30,000 square metres in 2007.

Countries such as the Philippines, Singapore and Zimbabwe are taking part in FILDA for the first time. Portugal is the biggest foreign participant. (macauhub)
