Mozambique: Three Italian companies plan to invest in Mozambique

Maputo, Mozambique, 21 July – Three Italian companies are sopon due to start operating in Mozambique in the energy, agri-industrial and tourism sectors, the Italian embassy’s business attaché, Simonetta Bartolomei said in Maputo.

According to Mozambican newspaper Notícias, Bartolomei made the statement after an audience offered by the Mayor of Maputo, Eneas Comiche, to a delegation of Italian business peopl.

Bartolomei said Italian business owners were keen to take advantage of the various business opportunities available, as well as to add to the excellent ties of friendship and cooperation ties between Mozambique and Italy.

Eneas Comiche, the city’s mayor, said that there had been significant advances in the area of business and that he would like to see Italian companies have a significant role in Mozambique’s development, in general, and particularly in Maputo.

According to Comiche, the city hall signed a memorandum of understanding with the municipal council of Turin, in Italy, which sets out the guidelines for cooperation in the area of municipal public transport.

Italy has been a partner of Mozambique since it had a privileged position in terms of partnerships and public investments in the country, with examples such as the Pequenos Libombos Dam, Corumana and other investments. (macauhub)
