6 August 2008

Luanda, Angola, 6 Aug -The World Bank has disbursed US$ 30 million to fund a family agriculture project geared towards market production, the bank said in a statement released Tuesday in Luanda.

State news agency Angop, citing the communiqué, said the project’s primary goal is to boost farming production and improve access to markets through efficient offer of services to smallholders in the provinces of Bie, Huambo and Malanje.

The scheme will benefit over 120,000 households, mainly engaged in subsistence farming, permitting more sustainable activity to bolster competitiveness of agricultural production in rural areas. (macauhub)
