Sao Paulo, Brazil, 7 Aug – Brazil has overtaken France to become the world’s sixth-largest exporter of automobiles, the National Association of Automobile Manufacturers (Anfavea) said Wednesday.
Figures from Anfavea show that Brazilian auto production hit a record 2.01 million units in the first half of this year, a year-on-year increase of 21.8 percent. Some 1.7 million units were sold in Brazil from January to July this year, Anfavea said.
Automobile exports in the first half of this year reached a value of US$ 8.12 billion, up 9.5 percent in an annual comparison. Some 320,100 vehicles were produced in July alone, a year-on-year increase of 19.8 percent and 3.5 percent more than the previous month.
The world’s biggest auto producers are Japan (6.06 million units), China (5.2 million units) and the US (4.89 million units), according to Anfavea. (macauhub)
